The protracted search for a missing 63-year-old woman reached a solemn resolution when her body was discovered by a family member in Pontiac on Thursday, reported CBS News Detroit. The woman, identified as Vivian Ann Powell, was last seen over a week prior to the grim find, with her family reporting her absence to the authorities several days after she was last spotted.
Oakland County Sheriff's Office, in a release cited by Audacy, disclosed that there were no visible signs of trauma or foul play upon the initial discovery of Powell's body, which was located on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, Powell was fully clad in a coat at the time of the discovery, nonetheless, an autopsy performed by the Oakland County Medical Examiner is still pending which might shed light on the precise cause and manner of her demise.
It was acknowledged by the Sheriff's Office, as reported by Oakland County 115, that Powell had a history of not being seen for several days at a time, yet her family raised the alarm this time after an unusually prolonged absence. Her family had disclosed to detectives that Powell was grappling with significant health issues, though it remains uncertain if these played a role in her untimely passing.
Throughout the almost two-week period when Powell was missing, deputies engaged in an extensive search and leveraged resources such as law enforcement bulletins, which were issued to surrounding agencies, focusing especially on locations Powell was known to frequent and attempting to contact her friends and other acquaintances.
