A somber search concluded on Monday as Allegan County Sheriff's Office deputies recovered the body of a missing person from Kalamazoo County in Littlejohn Lake, outside of Allegan. The discovery was part of a collaborative effort between multiple agencies following the report of the person's disappearance.
The initial call for assistance took place last Saturday, leading to the identification of the missing person's unoccupied vehicle at Littlejohn Park. Subsequent investigation hinted that the individual may have ended up in the nearby lake, according to the Sheriff's Office, as reported by FOX 17.
Throughout the weekend, efforts to locate the missing Kalamazoo resident intensified as dive teams from both the county and state police, along with local police and fire departments, convened at the scene. Allegan and Hamilton firefighters as well as Life EMS were key contributors in the search operations. The body was found underwater on Monday, drawing a close to the several-day search, reported MLive.
No foul play is suspected in this incident, the deputies say. However, as standard, investigations continue to piece together the circumstances that led to this tragic outcome. The identity of the victim has not been released, as confirmed by WOODTV.
