A Boston man has admitted to his role in sexually exploiting minors. Jalen Latimer, aged 26 and from Roxbury, entered a guilty plea on charges including conspiracy to commit sex trafficking of a minor and sexual exploitation of a minor. His sentencing is scheduled for March 18, 2025, as decided by U.S. District Court Judge Margaret R. Guzman, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office.
Latimer's plea acknowledges his involvement in a scheme to sex traffic a juvenile victim in July 2023, as well as exploiting two other minors to create child pornography in July 2022. He was apprehended in February 2024 and is currently also facing state charges including rape of a child and human trafficking of a minor. These serious crimes carry heavy penalties. For sexual exploitation of a minor, the minimum sentence is 15 years in prison, and it could go up to 30 years, as reported by the U.S. Attorney's Office.
A guilty plea was announced by U.S. Attorney Joshua S. Levy, FBI agent Jodi Cohen, and Police Chiefs Paul Saucier (Worcester) and Michael Daniels (Oxford), with help from Rhode Island and Massachusetts State Police. The case is part of Project Safe Childhood, a program started by the Department of Justice in 2006 to fight child sexual abuse. The program works to find offenders and rescue victims. Assistant U.S. Attorney Kristen Noto is handling the case. For more information, visit the Department of Justice website, as stated by the U.S. Attorney's Office.
