Boulder residents looking to swing some clubs at Flatirons Golf Course or take a wintery stroll around Boulder Reservoir will have to mark off a few days on their calendars when these destinations will be inaccessible due to holiday closures. The City of Boulder has announced its schedule of operations for the upcoming Christmas and New Year's celebrations. According to the City of Boulder, various recreational centers and services will not be available on the eve and day of both holidays.

On Tuesday, Dec. 24, patrons should plan ahead as the West and East Age Well Centers will be closing their doors for the full day, along with South Boulder Recreation Center. Contemporaneously, those looking to get in some last-minute fitness before the holiday festivities will find North Boulder Recreation Center and the East Boulder Community Center wrapping up early, at the stroke of 1:30 p.m.

Christmas Day, which falls on Wednesday, Dec. 25 this year, renders all city offices and recreational facilities to be in a state of quiescence. Furthermore, parking meters, city garages, and lots will become havens of free parking throughout the entirety of the day. The HOP bus, however, will remain in motion, albeit on a holiday service schedule from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., with buses arriving approximately every 23 minutes.

As the year draws to a close, Boulder's citizens will need to take note that on Tuesday, Dec. 31, the East and West Age Well Centers will be closing at noon, and similarly, the North Boulder Recreation Center and the East Boulder Community Center will halt operations at 1:30 p.m., while the Flatirons Golf Course and Boulder Reservoir maintain closure throughout the day. Parking relief comes once again on Jan. 1, 2025, as city-owned parking spaces exempt fees for the day. The East Boulder Community Center emerges as the singular beacon of recreation on New Year's Day, open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., to accommodate any resolution-inspired workouts or leisure activities.
