A violent incident on Cambridge Street in Brighton has led to the arrest of a Brockton man, according to authorities. Yesterday, around 5:58 PM, Boston police officers from District D-14 responded to a call concerning a man who had been stabbed multiple times. Officers promptly provided medical assistance, and the victim, an adult male, was subsequently transported to a local hospital with wounds deemed non-life-threatening.
The confrontation is reported to have started when the suspect, exiting his vehicle, approached the victim sitting in another vehicle. A verbal dispute quickly escalated into a stabbing. It appears that the violence was not a random act but stemmed from a road rage episode that occurred two days prior between the individuals, as per the BPD report.
In the course of their investigation, Boston Police were alerted to the existence of MBTA bus footage capturing the contentious incident. This valuable evidence allowed the officers to issue an accurate description of the suspect and his vehicle, which was seen fleeing towards North Beacon Street. Cooperation between Boston Police and Massachusetts State Police was crucial in apprehending the suspect when his vehicle was later spotted on Storrow Drive.
The suspect, identified as 40-year-old John Burgo of Brockton, was stopped by the Mass State Police, along with officers from District D-4 around the area of Clarendon Street and Back Street. Burgo now faces charges including Assault and Battery by Means of a Dangerous Weapon, Assault to Murder, and Assault and Battery. He is set to appear in Brighton District Court for arraignment.
