A 61-year-old Burnet man, Robert Jamerson, has been sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole for his crimes of continuous sexual assault against a child. After a three-day trial, Jamerson was found guilty by a Williamson County jury, who came to their verdict swiftly after a mere thirty minutes of deliberation, as reported by CBS Austin.
The justice delivered to Jamerson came on the heels of his actions that began in 2017, pervaded the innocence of a youth who was a mere 9 years old at the time abuse first inflicted dark clouds upon their sky, and it was not until December of 2022 that this series of despicable acts came to the attention of law enforcement, following a report by the victim's aunt, according to KXAN.
Williamson County District Attorney Shawn Dick lauded the courage of the victim stating, "Her bravery has not only brought justice for her but has also protected countless other children from harm," as stated by KXAN. Judge Donna King of the 26th Judicial District Court was responsible for delivering the maximum sentence to Jamerson, after hearing the additional evidence brought forward in the punishment phase of the trial.
