Employees from a Calistoga business turned into bona fide local heroes after they found a lost fanny pack stuffed with more than $2,000 in cash and promptly handed it over to the authorities.
According to a Facebook post by the Calistoga Police Department, the employees were scouring the bag for identification when they stumbled upon the substantial sum of money. Despite the temptation that such a find might present, they did not hesitate to contact the police. The department, clearly impressed by the good Samaritan act, lauded the employees: "We want to give a big shout out to our citizens for continuing to partner with us to foster a trusting culture and community."
The prompt action by the employees ensured that the lost property was securely turned over to the local police, who secured the money. They have also managed to track down the owner.
