
The Cedarburg Police Department is on the hunt for a suspect following a bank robbery that took place yesterday afternoon at the Port Washington State Bank. As reported by FOX6 News, the incident occurred around 3:15 p.m. on Washington Avenue, where the alleged robber vaulted the teller's window and escaped with cash of an amount still to be determined.
Police responded quickly, dispatching officers during the robbery and setting up a perimeter while initiating a search. However, no arrests were made at the scene. The suspect is described as a Black male, approximately 5-foot-5, wearing ripped white pants, a D.A.R.E. shirt, and a blue bandanna covering his face. Cedarburg police are asking the public for any information about the individual. According to a statement from GMToday, no weapon was displayed during the incident, although the threat of one was implied.
Further details shared by Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, revealed that no customers were present at the time of the robbery, and bank employees remained unharmed throughout the ordeal. Port Washington State Bank's Vice President and Director of Marketing Tarrah Beyer stated the bank could not comment on the exact sum that was taken.
This marks the first bank robbery in Cedarburg for the year, Cedarburg Police Chief Mike McNerney told GMToday. McNerney also confirmed that the suspect appeared to have left the scene on foot, heading south along Washington Avenue.
