Chandler Councilmember Angel Encinas has received national recognition from the National League of Cities with the Under 40 Impact Awards, which honors local elected officials who have made a significant impact on their communities before the age of 40. Encinas’ work in public service and community development has been recognized both locally and nationwide.
According ot the official website of Chandler, since starting his term in January 2023, Encinas has served on various subcommittees focused on community safety, neighborhoods, sustainability, and technology. He has also been involved in local Chamber of Commerce committees related to education, workforce development, and diversity. One notable project is his work with the Pueblo Viejo downtown neighborhood, where he helped improve communication between city services and residents to better meet their needs.
Encinas' advocacy is influenced by his family’s community engagement and his experience as a longtime downtown resident. He has also worked to connect with local teens by engaging with high school clubs and hosting City Hall visits to encourage youth involvement in government.
Encinas has demonstrated his commitment to inclusivity by leading Chandler's first pride flag raising ceremony in June. He has also played a key role in creating platforms like Somos Collective, which supports Latino community leaders, businesses, and residents in collaborating to improve Chandler.
