A fatal car accident in south Charlotte has drawn the attention of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department, with an ongoing investigation into the circumstances that led to the crash yesterday morning. As reported by WBTV, the collision occurred on East Boulevard near Springdale Avenue shortly after 11 a.m., resulting in one fatality and serious injuries to another individual.
MEDIC has confirmed that two people were involved, with the injured party having been taken to the hospital with serious injuries. The CMPD is now urging local residents to seek alternate routes around the 700 block of East Boulevard in the Dilworth area as they continue to thoroughly investigate the circumstances of the accident. In a statement obtained by QC News, CMPD revealed very few details about the crash, emphasizing the ongoing nature of the examination into what transpired.
Onlookers reported that a single vehicle seemed to have struck a tree outside of the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral. It is currently unclear what led to this tragic outcome or the condition of those involved beyond the immediate report from the scene. Locals familiar with the busy area were shaken by the sudden disruption and loss of life on what is usually a bustling boulevard within the community.
The roadway, often frequented by Charlotte residents and visitors alike, turned into a somber investigation site, with authorities promptly arriving to secure the scene. Efforts to understand the cause of the crash are set to carry on well into the coming days. In the interim, "At least one person has died following a crash," said the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department, according to a news release referenced by WSOCTV. Further details on the circumstances surrounding the incident remain scant as the police have yet to reveal additional information on the matter.
