A private school administrator in Charlotte has been charged amid a sexual assault investigation led by local police, arrest records show. Scott Waybright, who served as the Assistant Head of School at Charlotte Country Day School, faces multiple charges related to illegal surveillance.

The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department (CMPD) was alerted to the situation by the school last Friday, prompting a thorough investigation, according to a press release from the department. After the case was assigned to the CMPD’s Special Victims Division-Sexual Assault Unit (SAU), Waybright eventually turned himself in last Monday.

Waybright is currently charged with five counts of possessing a photographic image obtained in violation of the peeping statute and five counts of secretly using a photographic imaging device to view another’s body, or undergarments. His arrest and subsequent charges have led to the immediate termination of his employment with the school as of last Monday.

After the arrest, Waybright was taken to the Mecklenburg County Sheriff's Office. CMPD asks anyone with more information to contact Detective Wyatt at 704-432-1723. Tips can also be shared anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600 or their website, according to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department press release.
