Young readers in Chatham County have a reason to enjoy books this winter. The Chatham County Public Libraries are launching their Winter Reading BINGO Challenge, inviting children and teens to read from December 20 to February 15, to keep literacy alive during the winter months, according to the Chatham County website.
Designed for those aged 2-18, the challenge is making it easier than ever to participate. Upon visiting any Chatham County library branch, kids can grab a BINGO sheet to track their reading progress. Completing a 5-in-a-row BINGO nets them a free book, courtesy of the Friends of the Chatham Community Library. And while supplies last, with each BINGO sheet representing the potential reward of a new literary adventure waiting to be claimed.
Participating library branches are readily accessible to all young readers in the area:
- Chatham Community Library: 197 NC Hwy 87 N, Pittsboro, NC 27312.
- Wren Memorial Library: 500 N Second Avenue, Siler City, NC 27344.
- Goldston Public Library: 9235 Pittsboro-Goldston Road, Goldston, NC 27252.
Participants who complete at least one BINGO will earn a free book and be entered into a drawing for a grand prize. The prize includes donations from local businesses such as Pittsboro Toys and Chatham Outfitters, supporting both literacy and community engagement.
