A tragic incident unfolded on the morning of Saturday on Interstate 5 in Northern California where a child was killed and several others were injured in a car crash. The accident occurred near the split with Interstate 80, as reported by FOX40. A silver Lexus spun out of control and collided with a tree around 10:20 a.m., according to statements provided by the California Highway Patrol.
Among the passengers were two juveniles and one adult, all of whom were taken to the hospital. Unfortunately, a child believed to be around eight years old succumbed to their injuries as shared by the California Highway Patrol. As the investigation continued, the exact cause of the crash remained to be determined.
The crash reportedly happened amid wet traffic conditions, a factor that often contributes to road hazards. The Sacramento Bee provided additional details on the accident, noting that it occurred near the West El Camino exit on I-5 at approximately 10:15 a.m. Officer Tyson Shumway of the California Highway Patrol’s North Sacramento office clarified that the silver Lexus was carrying three juvenile passengers at the time of the spinout crash.
