An incident unfolded in Houston yesterday morning, when a 2-year-old child was killed in a traffic collision. The Houston Police Department is currently investigating the incident, which occurred at approximately 10:35 a.m. at the intersection of 3901 West Fuqua Street. According to a report from the City of Houston, the young boy was with his grandmother in a stroller, crossing the street when a truck struck them.

The victim's identity has not yet been confirmed by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences. The driver of the silver Chevrolet Silverado 2500 pickup, a 25-year-old male, remained at the scene of the accident and cooperated with officers from the HPD Vehicular Crimes Division. Sergeant E. Alejandro and Officer R. Saenz, mentioned in the City of Houston release, reported that the man exhibited no signs of intoxication, and was questioned and subsequently released.

Paramedics rushed both victims to Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center, where tragically, the child was pronounced dead. His grandmother, aged 64, sustained minor injuries but is in stable condition. Initial findings by authorities point to the driver's failure to yield the right of way to the pedestrians as they crossed legally at the designated crosswalk.

Currently, no charges have been filed against the driver, but the investigation is ongoing. The Houston Police Department is looking into all aspects of the fatal collision and will take the necessary actions based on their findings.
