The Citrus Heights Police Department, along with deputies from the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office, conducted a probation search at the home of 23-year-old Tony Diaz, who has a prior record for weapons violations. According to the Citrus Heights Police Department on their Facebook page, the search, which took place last Sunday evening, uncovered a modified pistol and other firearms. Diaz was arrested in connection with the findings.
A traffic stop revealed that Diaz was on active probation for weapons charges. As a result, "With the assistance of Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office deputies, CHPD officers conducted a probation search of Diaz's home, leading to the discovery of a modified pistol capable of fully automatic fire." In addition to the pistol, two AR-15 rifles were found, one of which had a 100-round drum magazine, as reported by the Citrus Heights Police Department.
The department praised the teamwork between law enforcement agencies in a recent operation. "This traffic stop and probation search highlight the power of teamwork and proactive enforcement in keeping our community safe," the post said. Diaz now faces felony weapons charges and a probation violation. The seized firearms show the risks officers face.
