A fire occurred on the 36th floor of Las Vegas' Fontainebleau hotel last Sunday night. The incident was reported at 8:47 p.m., and Clark County firefighters responded quickly. The fire was caused by an overheated motor in a room heating unit. The situation was quickly handled by the firefighting crews, according to FOX 5 Vegas.
Firefighters evacuated guests from the affected floor and quickly put out the fire. John Steinbeck, the Clark County Fire Chief, said the fire started from a heating unit in the casino-hotel. The flames were contained to the room. One person had shortness of breath after using the stairs but did not need to be transported to the hospital. "The fire emerged from a heating unit in the casino-hotel," Steinbeck said. "No other injuries were reported by firefighters or hotel staff and guests," as stated by Las Vegas Review-Journal and FOX5 Vegas.
Eirianne Kennelley, Fontainebleau's public relations senior manager, said, "It was quickly contained and there were no injuries." The fire response included forty-five firefighters, which Steinbeck said is typical for high-rise fires. He added, "Is no cause for alarm because the department usually deploys more units to respond to fires in high-rise buildings" Guests were allowed back in their rooms after the fire department secured the area. The situation was handled efficiently by first responders, as reported by Las Vegas Review-Journal.
