As the snow continues to fall in Middle Tennessee, the Clarksville Police Department is reporting multiple motor vehicle crashes due to icy conditions on the roads. In a statement obtained by WSMV, the CPD has noted several accidents, particularly on Meriweather Road at Millington Drive and Warfield Boulevard over Wilma Rudolph Boulevard.
Motorists have been advised by the CPD to take precautionary measures before venturing out. They are warned to allow themselves extra time to safely reach their destinations. The department's emphasis on caution was echoed in a report by Clarksville Now, where CPD spokesperson Scott Beaubien detailed that most roads are becoming slick, with overpasses being the zones where freezing most frequently occurs.
A notable incident involved a collision between a medium-duty utility truck and a pickup hauling wood at the intersection of Lakeview Road and Youngville Road, as reported by the Smokey Barn News. Fortunately, both the CPD and Smokey Barn News have not reported any injuries from this incident or the other crashes that have occurred thus far, as per WSMV.
In response to the hazardous conditions, the Clarksville Police Department has taken to social media to remind drivers to use caution and slow down during winter weather driving. They suggested that bridges ice over quicker and urged motorists to be particularly vigilant in these areas. This information was shared in a post from the department's official Facebook page. With snow expected to continue, the CPD is actively monitoring the situation and stands ready to respond to any further incidents necessitated by the wintry weather.
