A middle school math teacher from Clayton County has been placed at the center of a criminal investigation following his arrest last month on drug and weapons charges. Christopher Abercrombie, a teacher at North Clayton Middle School, was apprehended on November 14, 2024, by College Park Police after he was stopped for a traffic violation. During the stop, approximately 17 ounces of marijuana and a loaded firearm were found in his vehicle.

As reported by FOX 5 Atlanta, Abercrombie is currently facing several charges, including possession of Schedule I or Schedule II drugs with intent to distribute, possession of a firearm or knife during an attempt to commit certain felonies, and using a communication facility in the committing of a crime. In addition to the contraband, authorities discovered issues with his license and vehicle registration.

An incident report detailed by the Atlanta News First indicates that Abercrombie is "possibly involved in drug operation" and may have been operating on school premises. Investigators also found text messages on Abercrombie’s phone suggesting that other staff members at the school "may have bought or [smoked] contraband during school hours."

The School District, aware of the seriousness of these accusations, has chosen not to comment further as this is a personnel issue. They did, however, confirm their awareness of Abercrombie's arrest and assured the public that an internal investigation is in progress. As per a statement obtained by FOX 5, they declared, "As this is a personnel matter, no additional comments will be provided at this time."

College Park Police are urging anyone with further information that could assist in their ongoing investigation to come forward. Christopher Abercrombie, after his arrest, was released the following day, and it is unclear if he has returned to his duties at North Clayton Middle School amid these allegations. The case continues to develop as the implications for the school community remain uncertain.
