The Cleveland Browns are looking ahead to a pivotal Week 16 clash with division rivals the Cincinnati Bengals, with the status of several key players hanging in the balance. According to the Canton Repository, All-Pro defensive end Myles Garrett is expected to suit up despite missing Thursday’s practice due to a back issue. The same story also highlighted that Pro Bowl tight end David Njoku, despite returning to practice yesterday, remains a question mark for Sunday’s game after a hamstring injury kept him out last week.
The uncertainty continues at quarterback, with Jameis Winston labeled as questionable for Sunday's game despite his assurances. "Got banged up in the game,” Winston told ClevelandBrowns.com, “I’m definitely gonna be good.” Yet, there's a chance that Dorian Thompson-Robinson could find himself under center, as head coach Kevin Stefanski has prepared Bailey Zappe to step up if Winston cannot go.
Aside from the quarterback conundrum, the Browns might have to do without some of their other offensive weapons. News 5 Cleveland reported that wide receiver Cedric Tillman is questionable to play after spending time in concussion protocol following a concussion sustained in the Week 12 game against the Steelers. Cornerback MJ Emerson’s availability also remains uncertain as he is in concussion protocol after not finishing the Chiefs game due to a head injury.
Injuries seem to be the theme as defensive tackle Shelby Harris has been ruled out with an elbow injury sustained in the same Chiefs game, leaving a significant void in the Browns' defensive line. Stefanski told ClevelandBrowns.com, “Shelby has played really, really good football for us,” acknowledging Harris's absence's impact on the team's defense and the need for others to step up in his stead.
