The Cleveland Browns have placed wide receiver Cedric Tillman on injured reserve due to a concussion, ending his season a game short as the team gears up to face Baltimore in their season finale. Cleveland19 reports that Tillman, who started in one of the six games he appeared in this season, has made 29 receptions for 339 yards and three touchdowns.
Before being put on IR, Tillman was attempting to progress through the five-phase concussion protocol, a system that is meant to bring players back to full activity safely. According to News 5 Cleveland, Tillman completed the first four phases -- symptom-limited activity, aerobic exercise, football-specific exercise, and club-based non-contact training drills but could not clear the final phase of full football activity before being sidelined by the team.
With Tillman out, the Browns announced several roster moves, including the signing of running back John Kelly Jr. Kelly, now officially in his third NFL season, will be suiting up in jersey number 42, as the team's Cleveland Brown official website reported. Kelly's previous tenure with the Browns was during the 2021-23 seasons, and he was part of the training camp roster this year.
The team has also added RB Aidan Robbins and TE Cameron Latu to the practice squad while releasing K Andre Szmyt from the same team. Robbins, the 237-pound prospect from Brigham Young, will don jersey number 49. In a series of moves, complimenting the team's depth, the 6-5 245-pound Latu rejoins the Browns practice squad, having been released on Dec. 18; he will wear number 44.
