With Chubb sidelined and the playoffs looming, the Browns are adjusting their roster, the most significant being the acquisition of tight end Brenden Bates from the New York Jets’ practice squad. As per Cleveland Browns’ official website details, Bates is fresh out of Kentucky, making his NFL debut this year with five games with the Jets earlier this season. The Browns have also made moves on the practice squad by signing running back Jacob Kibodi, previously with the New Orleans Saints practice squad, and releasing tight end Cameron Latu.
According to Browns Wire, Chubb's injury does not require surgery, offering a silver lining that the Browns' prominent running back will have ample time for recovery and rehabilitation before offseason activities begin. He has expressed his desire to remain with the team in the long term, both sides presumably eyeing a contract negotiation in the offseason as he's poised to enter free agency.
Statistics often tell the tale of a player's importance, and in eight games this season, Chubb notched 332 rushing yards along with four touchdowns, making his absence all the more impactful for the Browns.
