Three individuals saw their maritime excursion abruptly cut short when their 15-foot vessel succumbed to the waters near the north Savannah River jetties, the U.S. Coast Guard reported. A crew from Coast Guard Station Tybee Island intervened promptly after a good Samaritan signaled the authorities around 11 a.m. yesterday, having spotted the distressed boat passengers standing on the jetties.
Despite the capsize, the victims incurred no injuries, according to FOX5 Atlanta. The Coast Guard's swift response facilitated their safe extraction and subsequent transfer to emergency medical services back at Station Tybee Island where they presented no medical concerns.
Highlighting the necessity of having proper safety equipment on board, Petty Officer 2nd Class Victoria Zeman from Coast Guard Sector Charleston praised the readiness of the Station Tybee Island crew in dealing with maritime incidents. "Station Tybee Island boat crew did a great job today responding swiftly to the report and were able to recover all distressed persons," she underscored. "Safety equipment is crucial in distress situations, it is important to ensure your vessel is appropriately equipped before heading out on the water," in a statement obtained by WSAV.
