The Colorado Springs Airport (COS) is closing in on a significant milestone as it is on track to surpass one million enplanements by year's end. In a recent report, COS documented handling 195,258 passengers in November. Half of these passengers, precisely 98,907 individuals, embarked from the airport. The cumulative enplanements for the year have reached an impressive 1,136,473, which indicates a 5.9 percent increase from the last year, according to official figures released by the airport, as per the City of Colorado Springs.
Despite a slight decline in November's traffic, the total number of travelers passing through COS's terminals throughout the year soared to 2,266,326. This reflects an uptick of 6.1 percent from the previous year. The load factor for November dipped to 77 percent which is less than 5.5 percent, compared to the month's average. The availability of seats marginally dropped by 0.5 percent, settling at 128,460 seats offered.
Forward-looking, Colorado Springs Airport is gearing up for new and expanded services. Allegiant Airlines is set to introduce three nonstop routes from COS in early 2025. These new flights will include destinations like Phoenix/Mesa starting February 12, Santa Ana/Orange County from February 13, and St. Pete/Tampa beginning February 14. Additionally, Southwest Airlines will enhance the airport’s destination list by launching seasonal flights to Cancun, Mexico on June 7, marking COS' inaugural international service.
In light of the festive season, COS is rolling out a holiday parking promotion that offers a 50 percent discount on long-term parking, charging a mere $4 a day from December 20 through January 2. While such promotions are common in the industry, tourists and locals alike might find this to be a welcome reprieve from the typically expensive airport parking fees during a busy travel period.
The upcoming year will bring Colorado Springs residents more travel options, as airlines expand their offerings. American Airlines plans to add a service to Chicago O’Hare on June 5, 2025, complimenting their already existing six daily nonstop flights. Delta Air Lines will maintain a twice-daily nonstop service to Atlanta, except Tuesdays and Wednesdays, and a daily service to Salt Lake City. Additionally, United Airlines continues to provide multiple daily nonstop flights to Denver, alongside connections to Houston and Chicago.
