
A tragic event unfolded last night when a wrong-way collision resulted in one death and left another individual with serious injuries, as per reports from the Ohio State Highway Patrol. According to 10tv, the collision occurred on U.S. Route 23 in Delaware County, around 10:40 p.m., south of Cheshire Road, in Liberty Township.
Driving a 2015 Honda CRV, 58-year-old Columbus resident Christopher Carden was going south in the northbound lanes and crashed head-on with a 2017 Ford Transit Van, as per details by ABC6. Carden died at the scene, while the van's driver, 41-year-old Nicholas Lukat from Delaware, suffered serious injuries and was taken to Riverside Methodist Hospital for treatment.
Both drivers reportedly wore their seatbelts during the incident, which the officials involved in the after-crash analysis underscored. While the investigation continued, authorities have not determined if impairment or distractions contributed to the cause of the crash. No additional injuries were reported from the accident site.
