A tragic incident erupted in the early hours yesterday in Columbus, as police were called to a residence following reports of a shooting. Officials arrived at the 7300 block of Sorrel Court to find a Black male, later identified as Sonny Chambers, fatally wounded by gunfire. Emergency Medical Services declared their resuscitation attempts unsuccessful, leaving Deputy Coroners Mary Eugene and Elizabeth Allison to pronounce Chambers deceased at 1:55 a.m., according to a Columbus Police Department press release.
The Violent Crimes Unit has since taken the helm of the investigation. It has established probable cause to issue an arrest warrant for 22-year-old Quentez Thrasher, who has been identified as the stepson of the victim. Thrasher stands accused of Murder (Family Violence) and Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Crim. As the search intensifies, authorities urgently appeal to the public for information regarding Thrasher’s whereabouts.
