The girl's father, Will Robinson, a Durant high school basketball coach, was found deceased after the Christmas Eve accident. According to MySanAntonio, Robinson was one of six individuals in the vehicle when tragedy struck near U.S. 75 and Taylor Street in Sherman. The search for his daughter, initiated on the day of the accident, has been faced with challenging conditions.
On the morning of Tuesday, December 24, Sherman Police Department received calls around 9:30 a.m. about an SUV that veered off the road and into a drainage ditch. After being swept away amidst strong currents and torrential weather, four family members were rescued, while one, Will Robinson, ultimately could not be saved. In a statement obtained by Yahoo News, search efforts expanded from Sherman into the lower branches of Post Oak and Choctaw creeks, covering about seven miles before the search paused due to the weather.
Multiple agencies, including Texas Task Force 2, are involved in the search operations. Sherman Police have advised that while they appreciate community support, no further assistance is currently needed. "We appreciate all the offers for assistance and are thankful for your concern and willingness to help," the police department shared. Currently, trained professionals with substantial experience in such recovery efforts remain deployed in the affected area, as per Yahoo News.
