
A fire erupted at a residence in Franklin County last Saturday after a pilot flying overhead alerted authorities. As reported by WSMV, the fire prompted an immediate response from the Keith Springs Volunteer Fire Department (KSVFD), who were dispatched to the scene on Keith Springs Mountain Road around 2:30 p.m. With the support of multiple fire departments and emergency services, the blaze was brought under control. However, the incident resulted in one individual sustaining injuries, ranging from minor to severe burns.
Upon the arrival of the KSVFD and supporting teams, they were met with a home fully consumed by fire, "a person with minor to severe burns" was discovered at the scene and flown to a burn unit, detailed the fire department in a statement obtained by WSMV. The names of the victim and the pilot who reported the fire have yet to be released. Crews from the Fourth District VFD, Belvidere VFD, Winchester Fire Department, and Decherd Fire Rescue were amongst those responding.
The extent of the damage to the property or the cause of the blaze remain, as of yet, undisclosed. A social media post on Keith Springs Volunteer Fire Department's Facebook page provided visuals of the aftermath, capturing the burned remains of the structure after the fire.
Officials from the KSVFD expressed thanks to all participating entities which included, Priority EMS, Franklin County Sheriff’s Department, and local citizens. "We would like to extend our gratitude to all of our mutual aid departments, Priority EMS, Franklin County Sheriff’s Department, and all of the citizens that came to our to help," they wrote, as per coverage by WKRN. The investigation into the fire's cause is ongoing as officials work to determine the circumstances that led to the blaze and the resident's injuries.
