
An 84-year-old woman from Boston Heights was fatally struck by a vehicle in Northfield Center Township, and authorities are now seeking assistance in locating the driver responsible for the hit-and-run incident. As reported by WKYC, deputies responded to the scene on the 9200 block of Olde 8 Road around 8 p.m. after receiving a call about a pedestrian having been hit. Despite the efforts of the Macedonia Fire Department that transported the victim to MetroHealth Medical Center, the woman succumbed to her injuries.
The Summit County Sheriff's Office and other law enforcement agencies have investigated the crash. It's been established that the suspect vehicle, a late model blue Ford Explorer, was heading northbound at the time the woman was struck. In a statement obtained by WKYC, the Sheriff's Office disclosed that the vehicle in question "did not stop after striking the victim and subsequently fled the scene." Witnesses who were present had to quickly render first aid to the injured pedestrian before paramedics arrived.
The community has been urged to come forward with any relevant information that may assist in apprehending the driver involved in the incident.
