A house fire erupted in Connellsville this morning, devastating one home and damaging two adjacent structures. The incident, which occurred in the 400 block of East Murphy Avenue, started around 6:30 a.m., as reported by local 911 officials and WPXI. As of the latest reports, there are no injuries, although further updates are expected as the story develops.
According to WTAE, a person remains missing following the inferno that consumed one house entirely and inflicted damage on two neighboring properties. Explosive sounds, likened to fireworks or gunshots, were reportedly heard by residents, preceding what appeared to be an explosion. In an interview, New Haven's Fire Chief attributed these sounds to ammunition and black powder present within the home.
While emergency response teams attempted to tame the blazes, a firefighter sustained a shoulder injury and had to be hospitalized. Other team members received treatment for smoke inhalation at the scene but are reported to be in stable condition.
