The Coon Rapids City Council wrapped up its pre-holiday business with a series of decisive measures during their assembly on Tuesday. The council, in a move to foster community engagement and infrastructure, adopted a resolution accepting a generous donation from the St. Paul Area Association of Realtors, details of which can be found on the city's website.
Among the other notable actions taken, the council appointed George Blindauer to the Arts Commission, a nod perhaps, to the vital role the arts continue to play in the fabric of the city. The meeting also saw the adoption of an ordinance amending municipal storm water rates, charges, and collections, reflecting a priority on sustainable management of stormwater in the face of ever-changing environmental conditions. Additionally, ordinances regulating cannabis businesses and setting fees were put into place, as detailed by the City of Coon Rapids.
Recreational amenities received a boost as well, with the approval of the purchase of new golf carts and GPS units for Bunker Hills. The council, also cast their gaze forward in terms of labor, by adopting a resolution in support of the 2025 compensation plan for unrepresented workers, as per the City off Coon Rapids. In the realm of sustainability, the council showed its environmental commitment, adopting a resolution for the solar on public buildings grant contracts.
The meeting concluded with the approval of agreements with MnDOT for the design and construction costs of the Coon Creek Regional Trail Pedestrian Bridge. This collaborative move marks not just an investment in the aesthetics and functionality of public spaces but underscores an interconnected approach to transportation and recreation within the heart of Coon Rapids.
