A collision between a 2007 Honda Accord and a concrete wall left one person critically injured last Saturday morning in east Las Vegas. The incident occurred on E. Hacienda Avenue, just west of S. Nellis Boulevard, according to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.
The driver, 21-year-old Juan Leon of Las Vegas, was making a turn from northbound S. Nellis Boulevard onto westbound E. Hacienda Avenue when the car failed to complete the turn and hit a nearby wall. The crash caused significant damage to both the vehicle and the wall. The passenger, 23-year-old Brandon Ferrales-Portillo, sustained minor injuries and declined medical transport. Leon was taken to Sunrise Trauma in critical condition due to injuries from the crash, as reported by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.
Officers suspected impairment from Leon and started a DUI investigation. The passenger had minor injuries, while Leon was taken to the hospital in critical condition.
