As Dallas gears up for a festive holiday season, the Dallas Parks and Recreation Department brings a sleigh-load of cheer to local parks. According to a bulletin from the City of Dallas, a highlight is the Kiest Park Holiday Festival & Tree Lighting slated for December 14 at 4 pm, promising an array of family-friendly activities free of charge.
The Kiest Park event at the Kiest Park Softball Complex features Santa’s craft workshop, a hot chocolate station, and holiday-themed inflatables tailored for the children. Organizers are also throwing in free carnival rides—an assortment that includes rock climbing, a pirate ship, a choo-choo train, and ballistic swings—to ensure everyone gets a taste of holiday adrenaline. On top of that, live performances will grace the festival, with the talents of Kiest Youth Carolers, El Trigo Ballet Folklorico, and the Rob Holbert Group set to entertain attendees.
In addition to the merriment, the festival will offer a one-stop shopping experience with artisan vendors and an array of food truck offerings to ensure no one goes home hungry or without that last-minute unique gift. Community partners like Dallas 311—On the Go and Dallas County Health and Human Services will be present, ensuring the festival is as informative as it is entertaining.
The ceremonial lighting of the 26-foot tree at 6 p.m. is set to be a centerpiece event, followed by a radiant light display in the Kiest Memorial Garden. Moreover, the City of Dallas encourages visitors to make memories at their Magic Photo Park Ops. It features life-sized holiday décor perfect for selfies or family photographs at parks, including Bachman Lake and Samuell-Grand.
