In a forward-thinking collaboration, Rosenbauer America and the Dallas Fire Rescue Department have embarked on a project to introduce the PANTHER 6x6 electric, a fully electric aircraft rescue and firefighting (ARFF) vehicle, into the fleet at Dallas Love Field Airport. Set to begin operations in 2025, this initiative marks a significant move towards sustainable emergency services. According to the City of Dallas, the PANTHER 6x6 electric is currently available for order, with delivery of the first pre-series vehicles anticipated by the year's end.
The partnership has designed a 6-month test phase where the pre-series PANTHER 6x6 electric will be assessed for how it complements daily operations, comparing performance with existing vehicles, and verifying its training functionality. This data will directly influence the vehicle's advancement into full-series production. Interim Fire Chief Justin Ball conveyed Dallas Fire Rescue's enthusiasm for the partnership in a statement obtained by Dallas Love Field, highlighting the aim to mitigate the carbon footprint while ensuring public and traveler safety.
Sebastian Wolf, CEO of Rosenbauer International, mirrored this sentiment, emphasizing the dual benefits of safety and efficiency that the PANTHER 6x6 electric brings to the table. Andreas Zeller, Chief Sales Officer of Rosenbauer International, noted in a statement that insights from the vehicle's deployment at Dallas Love Field will be instrumental in its optimization process. With such initiatives, the airport aligns with the City of Dallas' ambition to achieve emission-free status by 2040, particularly with the overhaul of "DAL ARFF Station 21 Replacement" into a modern, efficient, and sustainable structure.
