To bolster community safety and personal empowerment, the Denton County Sheriff's Office is hosting a free self-defense class specifically designed for women. Scheduled for January 11, 2025, the initiative falls under the Sheriff's Office Woman's Empowerment Program.
The class is set to take place at Pilot Point High School Gym, located at 1300 N Washington St, Pilot Point, TX, from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm. It's not just any standard self-defense class but one taught by law enforcement officers with the intent to equip participants with potent self-defense skills. According to a social media post by the Denton County Sheriff's Office, the program aims to empower both the mind and the body by learning how to avoid a dangerous situation, recognize danger, and defend yourself.
Interestingly, the class is accessible to individuals aged 15 and over, though minors under 18 will require a parent's presence to participate. The Sheriff's Office has made it clear that prior registration is mandatory for those wishing to attend. Potential attendees must email [email protected] with their full name and contact details to secure their spot.
