The Denton Fire Department reported a hectic start to their day with a structure fire and multiple vehicle accidents disrupting local businesses and commuters. The fire, which ignited in an exterior wall on the Popeye’s side of a shared building with Coco Shrimp, necessitated the closure of the fast-food restaurant for repairs.
Alongside the fire, Denton emergency services attended multiple wrecks on the 35 and the Loop. Driving to the fire, in a rush to aid, an incident involving Engine 6 occurred, although it resulted in no injuries. "And our E6 was involved in a wreck heading to the fire. Thankfully no injuries," the City of Denton Fire Department noted. Their call for caution, especially with the festive season, was clear: "With Christmas approaching, distractions are everywhere, so please help us by driving slower and maintaining situational awareness around you."
Despite the incidents, local seafood business Coco Shrimp escaped the blaze unscathed. As confirmed by the fire department, the establishment will resume operations once the building's power supply is restored. The swift response from the fire department and other emergency services helped prevent the spread of the fire and further casualties. Consequently, damages were mitigated, limiting the impact on the local community and economy.
