After a lengthy five-year probe into the disappearance of a Denton woman, authorities have brought charges against one man following the identification of human remains. Angelique Yvonne Hataway, 41, was reported missing in April 2019, with the Denton Police Department recently confirming the remains found belong to the missing woman.
Don Edward Bullard, Jr., 60, who shared a rented property with Hataway at the 500 block of N. Mayhill Road was the last known individual to have seen her. Despite numerous interviews, Bullard maintained he was unaware of Hataway's location. On September 10, Denton PD was alerted to potential human remains at their shared residence. The remains were uncovered, along with personal items linked to Hataway, setting the stage for the grim conclusion to the years-long mystery.
According to a press release issued by the City of Denton, the DNA analysis conducted by the Center for Human Identification (CHI) at the University of North Texas Health Science Center solidified Hataway's identity last Tuesday. Following the findings and the culmination of evidence from the investigation, authorities were poised to make an arrest.
An arrest warrant was secured for Bullard last Thursday, charging him with the murder of Hataway. Currently held in Denton County Jail on unrelated charges, Bullard now faces a bond set at $1M for the murder charge. This turn of events offers a semblance of closure to a family and community that have waited years for answers about the fate of Angelique Yvonne Hataway.
