Deputies from the Victor Valley Station found themselves in a fast-paced pursuit that led them from Adelanto into Redlands last Thursday when they were called to the 12000 block of Air Expressway over a reported stolen vehicle.

The suspect, Armando Villareal, a 26-year-old resident of Desert Hot Springs, decided to run from Deputies Sulikhanyan and Jauregui. He led law enforcement on a chase with speedometer needles pushing past 130 mph. The pursuit, aided by sheriff's aviation, zipped through San Bernardino and came to a head in Redlands—an area unaccustomed to such commotion.

Villareal, perhaps misjudging his maneuverability, entered a cul-de-sac, which became his downfall. In a final attempt to evade capture, Villareal rammed the stolen vehicle into two patrol cars. The force rendered one patrol car completely inoperable and brought Villareal's flight to a standstill as well.

Villareal was taken into custody and now resides at the High Desert Detention Center, his bail set at $100,000.00. Details provided by the San Bernardino County Sheriff-Coroner Department indicate that charges against him include grand theft auto, assault with a deadly weapon, possession of a stolen vehicle, and evading a peace officer with disregard for public safety. No peace officer or member of the public sustained injuries during these events.
