On Sunday morning, the DeSoto Police Department responded swiftly when a concerned citizen reported a suspicious figure. It was roughly 5:30 a.m. when dispatchers received a call about an individual skulking around Windy Meadow Drive, peering into vehicles, the caller thought. Acting on these alerts, the department sent a support drone into the skies which pinpointed the male subject as he slipped into a residential backyard.
With the urgency that comes with preventing crime, officers from Alpha & Charlie Shift reached the scene within moments and confronted the man. Identified as 27-year-old Juan Macias Tovar of DeSoto, he spurned their attempts at communication, engaging in a scuffle that quickly saw him subdued. In the tussle, officers observed a large knife tumbling from the folds of Tovar's jacket. Tovar was then arrested not just for his active resistance but also on outstanding warrants, according to the DeSoto Police Department.
