A Detroit man, Darius Daron Shantez Lacey, age 25, has been charged with a litany of felonies due to a shooting incident that resulted in his 2-year-old son being injured. In the fallout of what appears to be a domestic dispute gone violently awry, he was arraigned Saturday on counts including assault with intent to murder and first-degree home invasion, as Detroit News reported.

Lacey's arraignment, held through 36th District Court, includes a charge of first-degree home invasion and a $500,000 cash or surety bond condition, accompanied by a mandate for GPS tethering should he be released, Fox 2 Detroit reports. His legal proceedings will continue with a bond re-determination hearing, followed by a probable cause hearing on Monday, December 9, and a preliminary exam on December 16, says a Wayne County Prosecutor's Office press release.

The incident in question occurred last Tuesday, around 5:45 p.m. when Lacey allegedly tried to force his way into the mother of his child's home on Dickerson Street. Following a failed traffic stop initiated by Detroit police due to improper plates on his vehicle, Lacey fled, returning to the home around 6:30 p.m., which escalated to the point of gunfire after an altercation with his ex's new boyfriend, the Audacy outlet states.

Lacey allegedly "pulled out a gun and fired it multiple times," as per Audacy, striking the child and precipitating an urgent, family-conducted hospital transport for the wounded toddler. Interim Detroit Police Chief Todd Bettison conveyed that around 15 shell casings were found at the scene, indicating a shootout scenario during a press conference, the incident involved Lacey and his ex's new boyfriend.
