
A 22-year-old Detroit man was killed in a single-vehicle accident on Interstate 94 near Battle Creek on Wednesday night. WOODTV reported that the crash occurred around 10 p.m. on westbound I-94 near mile marker 104 in Emmett Township, according to Michigan State Police.
The deceased, whose identity has not been released, was found to be not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision. Details about what led to the accident have yet to be determined, and the investigation is ongoing. The state police could not confirm whether alcohol or speed were contributing factors in the tragedy.
FOX 17 adds that the man was declared dead at the scene and was the sole occupant of the vehicle. There was no immediate indication of other vehicles being involved in the incident.
Several agencies, including Emmett Township Public Safety, Nottawaseppi Huron Band of the Potawatomi Police, and Lifecare EMS, responded to assist the Michigan State Police. Battle Creek Enquirer detailed that the crash continues to be under investigation as authorities work to piece together a narrative of the events leading up to the fatal occurrence.
