A Detroit man, Deandre Patrick Lawrence, aged 24, offered a no-contest plea in connection to a violent incident that played out on Christmas Day 2023, involving the shooting of his ex-girlfriend's boyfriend, this was announced by officials.
On what was supposed to be a day of festive celebration, Lawrence arrived at his ex-girlfriend's residence with gifts for his children, which quickly escalated into a physical altercation with the woman's live-in boyfriend, who upon trying to escape the scene was chased, tripped, and then shot twice in the back by Lawrence. Lawrence is scheduled for sentencing on January 28 as reported by the Macomb County Prosecutor's Office.
Charged with assault with intent to murder and felony firearm possession, the incident underscores the devastating impact of gun violence especially during a time meant for peace relayed Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido.
