Downtown Jacksonville is preparing for a festive celebration this holiday season. The December Art Walk today will offer locals and visitors an evening of holiday cheer. The event will include the Holiday Lounge at James Weldon Johnson Park and a Winter Wonderland experience at Snyder Memorial Church, according to the City of Jacksonville announcement.
Rance Adams of River City Live on WJXT will host the event, which includes the City of Jacksonville's annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony with Mayor Donna Deegan. The lighting, scheduled for 6:15 pm, will feature local Olympic athletes Caeleb Dressel, Ryan Murphy, and Poe Pinson. Attendees can enjoy performances by The Scott Jones School of Dance and The Community Nutcracker.
The festivities will take place at James Weldon Johnson Park and Snyder Memorial Church, both decorated for the holidays. Attendees can take photos with Santa and Mrs. Claus and enjoy performances by Taryn “Love Reigns” Wharwood and Ace Winn. The church will also feature a Winter Wonderland with Instagram-worthy decorations for selfies and group photos, as per the same announcement.
The event will run from 5 pm to 9 pm, bringing the community together to celebrate the season. Along with the tree lighting and music, CAP Kids and SK8hers INC will add to the lively atmosphere. Snyder Memorial Church’s festive transformation offers perfect settings and characters for holiday photos.
