A tense encounter between a pickup truck and a train in Canadian County has left one person with injuries that, while significant, were not life-threatening. The incident occurred just west of Yukon, near SH 66 and Banner Road on Tuesday evening, as reported by KFOR. The Oklahoma Highway Patrol notes that the driver of the truck had been trying, in what turned out to be a perilous attempt, to cross the tracks ahead of an oncoming train.
Following the collision, emergency responders from Yukon fire and police departments swiftly converged on the scene, which unfolded on Banner Road, located just north of Route 66. The truck sustained heavy damages, evident in photos released by the Oklahoma Highway Patrol. The injured driver was transported to a hospital; KOCO reported.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol is still investigating the crash. The driver, who is currently in stable condition in the hospital, is recovering. OKC FOX has reported that while the memory of the crash may stay with us, the driver’s physical injuries are expected to heal.
