The male driver died at the scene, and the female passenger was hospitalized with severe burns covering 70% of her body. Firefighters couldn’t extinguish the fire immediately due to nearby power lines, and had to wait for the area to be made safe, according to KHOU.

"They would need to fix the transformer, repair the lines, and re-energize them."
