Flames engulfed the second story of a Duluth residence under renovation Monday evening, as reported by the City of Duluth's official release. Firefighters from the Duluth Fire Department responded to the emergency call at 5:41 P.M. and arrived at 901 W Fourth Street to confront the blaze that had aggressively made its way through the roof of the multi-story single-family house.
According to the Duluth Fire Department, an integrated effort from Headquarters, Lincoln Park, and Spirit Valley crews allowed for a swift attack on the fire, containing it within minutes of their arrival. The blaze had traveled from the second story to the attic, but thankfully, no injuries were reported in the incident. It is noted, however, that there were no residents needing displacement due to the ongoing renovations.
While the scene was brought under control, the economic cost of this unexpected event is estimated to be $50,000. The cause of the fire remains a mystery and is currently the subject of an investigation by the Duluth Fire Marshal’s office.
The Duluth Fire Department has acknowledged and thanked its partners, including the Duluth Police, Saint Louis County Emergency Services, Comfort Systems, and Minnesota Power, for their collaborative efforts in managing the incident.
