Early on a chilly Monday morning, the streets of East Austin were marred by a tragic incident. In the 8200 block of East Ben White Boulevard, a collision claimed the life of an unidentified male pedestrian. The Austin Police Department responded to the scene around 6:29 a.m. on December 16, according to a report by the city of Austin.
The driver involved in the accident cooperated with law enforcement, staying on scene and, fortunately, sustained no injuries. As the investigation unfolds, this marks Austin's 90th fatal crash this year, up from 87 on the same date in 2023.
