Eden Prairie Police Department officers and their reserves came together to transform their squad cars into sleighs laden with joy—in the form of toys and games destined for children in need during this holiday season. According to the City of Eden Prairie's official announcement, these officers took time out of their day to ensure these gifts reached the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves at KARE 11 studios in Golden Valley. The toys are meant to land in the hands of kids who might otherwise not receive a gift this time of year.
The gathering of these donations was the result of a concerted effort to truly make a difference. The EPPD had previously organized a collection event on November 30 at Eden Prairie Center, asking shoppers to give a part of their holiday shopping to bring smiles to the faces of children they may never meet. The gifts came not only from generous residents but also from staff at the local Community Center, Senior Center, and City Center, culminating in a treasure trove of toys that have now been passed on to be distributed.
"Thank you to everyone who donated this year," the City expressed, recognizing the spirit of giving that emanated throughout the community. The detail of this outreach goes beyond the physical donation of toys.
