The El Paso County Sheriff's Office K9 Unit is now $15k richer thanks to a generous donation from God’s Pantry Ministry, a noted non-profit in the local area. The substantial financial boost for the K9 Unit comes as a tribute to the late K9 Jinx, who tragically lost his life on duty on April 11, 2022, while protecting his handler and the community. God's Pantry Ministry was stirred to donate after a meaningful encounter between Deputy Ronnie Hancock, Jinx’s handler, and a volunteer at the ministry.
"It was an honor to support our local law enforcement and first responders," said Carey Adams, Owner of God’s Pantry Ministries, as obtained by the El Paso County Sheriff's Office. "They work hard to protect and to serve us all. We chose to donate to the K9 Unit in memory of K9 Jinx and all K9 partners who have served beside peacekeepers over the years. It was an honor to give back and recognize the work of law enforcement and Jinx’s sacrifice." The funding aims to directly assist in enhancing the unit's capabilities, including but not limited to training, equipment, and essential veterinary care for the remaining K9s: Jack, Dex, Styx, and Knox.
El Paso County Sheriff Joseph Roybal expressed his gratitude for the support. "I am thankful to Carey and the volunteers at God’s Pantry for their work serving our community and for their generous donation to our K9 Unit," Sheriff Roybal said, as per El Paso County Sheriff's Office. This act of charity is seen as vital support, enabling the Sheriff's Office to improve the provision of services to the community in several critical areas.
