An officer with the El Paso County Sheriff's Office has been taken into custody on misdemeanor charges related to domestic violence. Lieutenant Paul Mynatt was arrested by Colorado Springs Police yesterday, and he now faces charges of Third Degree Assault and Harassment.
Mynatt, who has been with the Sheriff's Office since 2007, was booked into the Teller County Jail, where he is currently held without bond. According to the El Paso County Sheriff's Office news release, the lieutenant's employment began in February of that year, and his current assignment is within the Administrative Services Division. In line with organizational policy, he will be placed on administrative leave.
This case is still active, and as such, the Sheriff's Office has declined to comment further. Inquiries concerning the investigation have been directed to the Colorado Springs Police Department, which is investigating the allegations against Mynatt.
