End of an Era: Redbeard's Sports Bar in Mount Washington to Close after 30 YearsSource: Google Street View

A long-standing fixture in Pittsburgh's Mount Washington neighborhood, Redbeard's Sports Bar & Grill will close its doors after three decades of serving the community. WPXI reported that the owners of Redbeard's have chosen not to renew their lease, marking the end of an era for the sports bar, a local favorite for residents and tourists seeking a spot to watch games or enjoy live acoustic music on the patio.

In a heartfelt statement, Redbeard's owner, Len Semplice, conveyed the emotional weight of the decision, according to WTAE, saying, "This is a sad day, the Mt. Washington community has been our family, and we have grown together over the years," the closure comes despite the appreciation Semplice expressed for "all our loyal customers from the Mount and all around Western Pa as well as the hundreds of tourists that made that ride up the incline to enjoy our locally owned establishment whether it was to watch their favorite sports team play or enjoying dinner and drinks while listening to acoustics on the patio."

While the Shiloh Street location is shutting down, not all is lost for fans of Redbeard's. The chain's presence will continue in downtown Pittsburgh, where their other location remains open, ensuring that the Redbeard's experience will live within the city limits. According to WTAE, this second location will continue to operate as usual.

Redbeard's will close on December 21, just before the holidays, marking the end of a 30-year presence on Mount Washington. However, owner Semplice calls it "semi-retirement," hinting at a possible future for the venue.
